FCL and LCL
They are two of common shipping methods used in the international logistics industry for export and import ocean freight cargo.
The FCL (full container load) process involves - picking up empty freight container at the container yard, loading at the shipper facility, transporting by truck / rail to the port of loading and further sea / ocean container shipping of the cargo to the port of arrival and delivery to final destination.
LCL (Less Than Container Load) shipping can be an easy cheaper alternative option to FCL (Full Container Load) shipping. This mode of transport means that you don’t have to buy enough stock to fill an entire container load – and that, instead of paying for an entire container, you only pay for the space inside of one that you use. This is great for small businesses or first time importers.
Land based method of shipping and receiving shipments. Cost effective for large and heavy packages.
LTL and FTL
Ground transportation methods that shippers depend on for shipping boxes or heavy packages locally. The difference between is the amount of trailer space that a single freight shipment requires. Less than truckload (LTL) is used when freight only takes up a portion of a trailer whereas a full truckload (FTL) fills up the entire space of a trailer.
